The State Department is ordering the developer of a pipeline that would carry oil from western Canada to Texas to reroute it around environmentally sensitive areas of Nebraska.
That means possibly delaying a final U.S. decision until after the 2012 election.
The decision to order Calgary-based TransCanada Corp. to figure out a way around an area that supplies water to eight states will require an environmental review of the new section. That review probably would take at least a year.
Calgary-based TransCanada Corp. is seeking to build the $7 billion pipeline to carry oil derived from tar sands in Alberta, Canada, to refineries on the Texas Gulf Coast.
Part of the 1,700-mile pipeline as designed now would pass through Nebraska's Sandhills region and the massive Ogallala aquifer.

Great news. Especially for the kids of the world, and those not yet born.

Tens of thousands of jobs will never be created. But hey, gotta be green right?

Of those indirect jobs, the XLT president admitted that they include dancers and speech therapists. Funny how big oil can see the grand picture when they want to.
The XLT project head also admitted that the 7000 jobs were one man/one year. Which means that if the job takes two years its actually only 3500 jobs; 3 years=2333 jobs, 4 years=1750. See the deception yet?

Everyone voicing their objections to the pipeline should prove where their hearts and minds truly are by giving up their cars for a minimum of one year. Otherwise, their message is loud and clear: "Stop all oil production in North America", but make sure you give me all the oil and gas I want." And of course, stem the flow of U.S. dollars to the Middle East. Why don't we all put wind generators on the top of our cars while we're at it.

Well, the pipeling section in Kansas is already built. So, rerouting it around environmentally sensitive areas of Nebraska should not be that difficult for the engineers of this great country.
