Friends of the Kaw will host the third annual Wild & Scenic Film Festival at 7:00pm on Friday, October 14 at Liberty Hall (646 Massachusetts St., Lawrence, KS). Tickets can be purchased in advance through the Friends of the Kaw’s web site (www.kansasriver.org) and at Free State Brewing just north of Liberty Hall on Massachusetts Street for $10. Tickets are also available at the door the night of the event for $12. In addition, Friends of the Kaw is offering an Introductory Membership Special (new members only) for $15 (normally $35) the evening of the event.
Selected feature films this year are Scattered Flurries, Coast is Clear, The Fishman, The Majestic the Plastic Bag, Witness and 180 Degrees South. You’re sure to learn from these inspiring environmental films with hard-hitting topics that include water issues, wilderness preservation, citizen activism and more.
All event proceeds will benefit Friends of the Kaw, a grassroots, not for profit, environmental organization whose mission is to protect the Kansas (“Kaw”) River for present and future generations. Friends of the Kaw also supports the Kansas Riverkeeper, a non-governmental advocate, who works in the capacity as a teacher, scientist, investigator and media spokesperson.
Our 2011 film festival sponsors: Patagonia, klean kanteen, Clif Bar, Sierra Nevada Brewing Company, grist, Osprey, KLWN Lawrence, The Bowersock Mills & Power Company, Citizens Bank & Trust, Kansas Land Trust, Kansas Canoe and Kayak Association, Ozark Wilderness Waterways Club and the Westar Green Team.
Please join us for an event that is not only entertaining but that gives back to our community!
